In the innocent days of childhood, the polymath, much like any other child, dreams of growing up and walking just like the adults. Babies have a peculiar way of walking, but as we become adults, we gain confidence, balance, and the ability to tackle things like stairs. It's only when someone has a leg issue or is missing a leg that they can't walk like typical adults.
What the little polymath yearns for more than anything is to be normal – to blend in with all the other wonderful people.
Throughout her childhood, people often praise the little polymath, saying things like, "You're amazing, impressive, unique, and you have so many talents. You do it all effortlessly. I wish I were like you."
However, beneath these compliments, the little polymath senses something else: "You're not like me. You can't understand my struggles. You're not normal."
And so, despite the kind words, the little polymath often feels isolated.
She tries and tries, but success eludes her. Eventually, she comes to a realization – she's missing a metaphorical leg, something that would make her fit in and be just like everyone else.
